UberCounsel Program is an application embedded in the mobile app that allows for the patient to reach out for counseling services. After the patients receive their first counseling and experiencing its positive effect, patients are expected to know when and how to reach for an emotional and medical support.
One application is through Care and Treatment Counseling (CTC) where patients are usually enrolled in receiving well trained counseling. But once they are on their ARV and in the general population, patients become silent, out of touch and mostly isolated or isolate themselves and eventually depressed. Patients lack motivation and knowledge on how to access these services and sometimes the services are not adequately organized.
On the other hand, there is a whole wave of Social Worker graduates who are not employed that could conduct these counseling even remotely. Closed chat groups and online council services could be mapped and connected as easy to connecting to an UBER ride. Using the mobile app, a patient can request counseling and a provider can be picked by patient on whom to give them counsel or support they need at that particular time while being compensated by the project. Careful consideration must be undertaken for business model sustainability.
Text mining techniques can be use to rate the level of assistance needed, and the quality of care that was received. Analytical approaches can be applied to rate the genuinity of the call to avoid misusing of the system. Research question to this initiative will be on how Medication adherence and CD4 count improve by the patients who enrolled in the UberCounsel program to those who have not.
Mobile App
An application that embeds the AI can be designed and implemented. There are three basic routines that an AIDS patient needs to adhere to. CD4 count measurement, food reception from the program for certain cases and ARV measurement. Since the food support is a home-based program supported by the AIDS Control Program, family members can also participate in collecting support information for the patient. It is through the food tracking that a token can be assigned to incentives CD4 count measurement and medication adherence. App notifications are suitable for keeping track of patient behavior and family support information.
Graphic representation of individual performance visualization can help patient motivations in having indicators improved, and cumulative indicators can be used to reward patients for consistency in adherence. Markers of failure to adherence can be automatically notified to health providers application, and through the app, either communication links can be established or a virtual interview call can be conducted and voice responses be recorded into the database.
One of the questions in the virtual call can establish screening for depression. Analytical formulas embedded into the app can either produce a real time advice for the patients or refer them to an available counsellor, who can make a call to begin phone based or physical counseling.
